Conservation/Extinction

Brennan Moots

Black rhinos are a breed of rhinos that live in Africa. They are critically endangered due to poachers. In the past 20 years the population has doubled in help of conservation efforts in Africa. Rhinos are the oldest living mammal group. People poach them for their horns or for the sport of killing. They use the horns for medicinal purposes. Typically selling the horns on the black market the horns are worth a lot of money.

  1. I truly don’t understand why people just kill them to sell their horns like that’s animal cruelty and I wonder what the horns have to do with medicine.

  2. I agree with Ky’on I don’t know how there horns are used for medicine. If you really study what there horns are made of its made of keratin and a certain protein that is in your hair and finger nails. So there horns are pretty much worthless.

  3. Same as well , we need to get and find out what’s in the horn that makes them get hunted so much and find another substitute. There extinction could really mess up the food chain.

  4. I wanna know why we know that we know that we are close to making them go instinct but we just keep killing them and using them for resources or making money. But when they are gone we regret it or don’t care. I feel like we should try harder to save animals from going extinct
